Abstract

What are the implications of the theories of educational leadership for the effective training and utilisation of Nigerian educational leaders ? The system so far has failed to emphasise sufficient knowledge of current theories of educational leadership as prerequisite for educational leadership positions. Often, poorly trained individuals are made school principals. The author, who is at Imo State University, recommends that future Nigerian educational leaders should be trained in the current theories of educational leadershiP and given periodic in-service education, seminars and workshaps.
