Abstract
ABSTRACT This study examines a scouting group’s commemoration of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1980s Poland, amid martial law, focusing on innovative pedagogy and civic engagement. A visit to the Jewish Theatre serves as a transformative moment, highlighting the role of theatre in historical education and cultural expression. Using document analysis of an educator’s participant observations and varied inquiry methods, the research explores the prevention of antisemitism and the fostering of Jewish life within pedagogy. Scout leaders’ decisions reflect solutions to dilemmas surrounding intergenerational and intercultural dialogue. The theoretical framework underscores the interconnectedness of Holocaust education and human rights education.
