Abstract

This special article is the third in an annual series for the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia that is specifically dedicated to highlights in vascular anesthesiology. This review includes several updates in the perioperative optimization of vascular surgery patients. The first section provides an overview and updated outcomes for a novel endovascular procedure to treat patients with carotid vascular disease. The second section summarizes recent long-term outcomes for endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, recently released from the original landmark trials comparing endovascular and open repair.
