Abstract
Using the electrochemical cyclic voltammetry, the Co, Ni, and Co66Ni34 alloy films were electrodeposited on GaAs(001) surface. XRR and XRD have been used to characterize the structure of the films. We especially measure the L‐edge X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), which is element specific and sensitive to chemical valence, and the X‐ray magnetic circular dichrosim (XMCD) spectra, which is sensitive to magnetic moments of the atoms. The orbital and spin magnetic moments of the Co and Ni atoms from the monocomponent Co, Ni and binary Co66Ni34 alloy films are obtained from the XAS and XMCD spectra by using the sum rules.
