Abstract

Abstract The authors present in this paper data on the viscosity of water and superheated steam at temperatures and pressures used in modern power-plant practice. The authors constructed an apparatus to measure the viscosity of water and superheated steam at pressures up to 3500 lb per sq in. abs and at temperatures up to the critical in the case of water and between 800 F and 1000 F for superheated steam. The apparatus is described and the results obtained with it are reported in this paper.
