Pre-service English teachers still need to gain the competence to develop authentic materials with Islamic values, reflected by their low perceived readiness. To reveal their readiness, this study was conducted by using narrative inquiry. The data were gathered from the storytelling of pre-service English teachers pursuing master's degrees at IAIN Kediri. Participants in this study were one male and one female student with teaching experience. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The data showed that the pre-service teachers believed the readiness to develop digitalized authentic materials with Islamic values could have been more optimal. It is because of the existing instructional materials provided by the government, their lack of confidence as new teachers, and their limited autonomous access to their classes as a new teacher. English textbooks provided by the government are only general English. So, it makes the teachers follow the materials instead of developing authentic materials with Islamic values that are fundamentally needed by students studying in Islamic institutions, such as modifying the materials from books to reflect Muslim activities. Therefore, the pre-service teachers must expose themselves to integrated materials books and digital materials with Islamic values.

Purpose – This study aims to examine the revitalization process of the beramih tradition in Nanga Bunut as an implementation of Islamic values within local culture. The beramih tradition, which reflects a spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation (gotong royong), has been declining due to the influence of modernization and increasing individualism. To address this challenge, a revitalization strategy is needed—namely, the reactivation of cultural practices that are nearing extinction by adapting them to the current socio-religious context. Methods –This research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, involving 12 informants consisting of community leaders, religious figures, and the younger generation. Findings – The results show that beramih is rich in Islamic values such as friendship (silaturahmi), solidarity, and social care, which strengthen the social cohesion of the community. Revitalization efforts are carried out through religion-based cultural education, youth involvement, and the active participation of traditional and religious leaders in redesigning beramih activities to be relevant to contemporary societal needs. Value – This study concludes that the revitalization of the beramih tradition not only preserves local cultural heritage but also reinforces the Islamic identity of the Nanga Bunut community amidst the currents of globalization.

The passage of Law Number 3 of 2024 concerning Villages extends the term of office of the Village Head to eight years, with a maximum of two terms. This is similar to the term limits during the New Order era. However, in practice, elections are often delayed, resulting in the regulations regarding the term of office not always being implemented on schedule. This research aims to analyze the changes in the Village Head’s term of office in Law Number 3 of 2024 from the perspective of siyāsah dustūriyyah. Using a normative-juridical approach, the study finds that the extension of the term to eight years reflects efforts to ensure the stability of village governance and promote public welfare. However, it also necessitates the establishment of effective oversight mechanisms to prevent abuse of power. The extended term is expected to provide sufficient time for Village Heads to optimize development and improve the quality of public services. Nevertheless, this change must be accompanied by strict supervision and evaluation mechanisms to safeguard against authoritarian tendencies. Philosophically, this amendment reflects the values of justice and popular sovereignty; sociologically, it promotes village empowerment; and juridically, it ensures legal certainty. In the framework of siyāsah dustūriyyah, the leadership of the Village Head is not merely administrative but also a moral and spiritual trust that must be exercised with justice and responsibility in accordance with Islamic principles. Leadership remains valid only as long as it is exercised fairly and rightly, and must be replaced if it deviates from these values. Ultimately, the change in the Village Head’s term of office aligns with the principles of democracy, Islamic values, and the need to establish effective and just village governance.
