Abstract

Purpose. The aim of the article is to present the changes in the use of spa services, SPA & Wellness in the Swietokrzyskie Province and to indicate the importance of lifestyle changes, which may be one of the factors of these processes. Method. In the review part, a literature query and a critical content analysis were used. In the empirical part, quantitative research was used using secondary sources (BDL and GUS) and primary (directly from entrepreneurs). A comparative analysis was applied regarding the level of phenomena in the Swietokrzyskie and Poland voivodships, including the analysis of the index level of complex data in order to learn the dynamics of changes in individual years. Results. An analysis of the number of tourists and patients including commercial visitors indicates an increase in interest in health tourism services, including spa tourism. The growing number of high standard hotels and facilities as well as occupancy confirm the development of health tourism including SPA & Wellness. The increase in the number of commercial patients, the shorter average stay time, the number of treatments performed, indicate changes in the expectations of service buyers. Research and conclusions limitations. The impact of lifestyle changes on the development of a particular form of tourism in the region is a multi-faceted issue. The article only attempts to check the changes in the supply side of health tourism, indicating an increase in consumer interest in so-called "A healthy lifestyle". Practical implications. Research results can be used by companies to profile services to meet new customers' needs. Originality. The work presents an original analysis of data on specific types of health tourism services in the Swietokrzyskie Province and at the same time is an attempt to indicate the relationship between the so-called "Healthy lifestyle" and the use of health tourism services in the analyzed region.
