Abstract

SummaryKiwifruit of the cvs Abbott, Bruno, Dexter and Elmswood from N.S.W., Australia, were stored at 0.5—0°C in air and in sealed polyethylene bags (0.04 mm thickness) with or without an ethylene absorbent (potassium permanganate on aluminium oxide). The modified atmospheres developed in the bags delayed softening of all cultivars and the inclusion of the ethylene absorbent further delayed softening.
