Abstract

Prov 30:21-23 seems to suggest that there is a fixed social order that cannot be broken. Correspondingly, several scholars have argued that because the sages were mainly conservative, they sought to preserve the universal order. Therefore, walking in wisdom would demand the respect of the same. On the contrary, this article aims to demonstrate that Prov 30:21-23 focuses more on the behavioral character of the individuals that assume new levels as shaped by their social backgrounds than the social order. This approach then brings to light the missional imports adaptable to our missional strategies. The study achieves this by examining the Torah for relevant insights that would give credence to the assertion of this proverb.
