Abstract
The toroidal field coil support structure design for a commercial power reactor is described. The design, developed on the basis of techniques reported in a companion paper, has some novel features, such as serrated joints and a structure composed of welded forgings. Particular attention is paid to manufacturing and assembly procedures and only modest extrapolations from present techniques are envisaged. Finally, a simple eddy current analysis is reported and outstanding areas of uncertainty in the design are discussed.
