Abstract
The genus Ptilogyna Westwood, 1838 is revised. Twenty-one species and one subspecies are recognized; they are distributed between three subgenera: Ptilogyna ss., Ctenogyna Macquart, and Plusiomyia Skuse. The 17 species of the subgenus Plusiomyia are divided into three groups: olliffi, lineata, and inornata and are redescribed; Pt. spectabilis (Skuse) is treated as a subspecies of Pt. gracilis (Skuse). The two species Pt. westualis, sp. nov., and Pt. mathesonae, sp. nov., the males of Pt. inornata (Skuse) and Pt. leucoplagia (Alexander), and the females of Pt. olliffi (Skuse), Pt. tripectinata (Alexander), Pt. nasalis (Alexander), Pt. wellsi (Alexander), and Pt. gracilis spectabilis are all described for the first time. The female of five species of the subgenus Plusiomyia are subapterous. A key for the species is provided. * Part II, Aust. J. Zool., 1968, 16, 495–510.
