January 01 2004 The Tension of Modern Bunraku Theodora Skipitares Theodora Skipitares Theodora Skipitares is a multi-media artist and theater director, who has been creating her works for more than 20 years. These works have usually been based on documentary texts and feature actors, various styles of puppetry, masks, video, and live music. She has received grants from the NEA, NYSCA, NYFA, UNIMA, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation, among others. Her play A HARLOT'S PROGRESS won the American Theater Wing Design Award in 1999. Since 1997, she has worked in Cambodia, Vietnam, and especially India, where she returns often to create new work.
