Abstract
In 1981, Maryland's Montgomery County Council established a task force "to determine the impact of government-sponsored performing arts classes on the private sector and to develop equitable solutions if necessary." The Performing Arts Task Force (PATF) brought together dance studio proprietors and music instructors from the private sector, representatives of publicly supported performing arts programs and of area community centers, and interested country residents like myself.
