Abstract
Spectroscopic and basicity evidence shows that 3-hydroxy-1,5-dimethyl- and 3-hydroxy-5-methyl-1-phenyl-pyrazole exist in the hydroxy form in non-polar media and in the solid state. In aqueous solution the hydroxy- and oxo-forms co-exist in comparable amounts.
