Abstract

The reservoir of the target strata (He8 & Shan1 section) in the Sulige gas field has such features as low porosity (2%–15%, by an average of 8%) and low permeability (0.1–1.5 mD, by an average of 0.5 mD). It is difficult to describe the boundary of the gas reservoir. In the past, gas reservoir boundary in the area was qualitatively predicted by pre-stack seismic inversion or roughly described by geological modeling which used well logging data. These methods cannot meet the requirement of deployment strategy of “fewer wells, higher efficiency” in ChangQing Oil field. In this paper, based on a large number of relevant literature and the characteristics of the gas field, the quantitative characterization technique of gas reservoir boundary has been put forward. Which is based on seismology, geology and drilling, and then the facies-controlled geological modeling is carried on afterward. Combining with the standard of industrial gas reservoir parameters in the Sulige gas field, the quantitative characterization technique of gas reservoir boundary has been put forward. This technology has been proved to be suitable for the efficient development of the Sulige gas field.KeywordsSulige gas fieldHeterogeneous reservoirGeological modelingGas reservoir boundary
