Abstract

Nanocrystalline Ni 0.7Mn 0.3Nd x Fe 2– x O 4 ferrites with x values ranging from 0.00 to 0.10, in step of 0.02, have been prepared by the emulsion method. The structure and the morphology of ferrite nanoparticles were measured using X-ray diffractometer (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Mössbauer spectra. It is shown that the structure of Ni 0.7Mn 0.3Nd x Fe 2– x O 4 ferrites nanoparticles is single spinel structure. The average crystallite sizes of the samples calculated using Scherrer' relationship are almost identical with the observed diameter from the image of TEM. The magnetic properties of the samples were tested by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) at room temperature. The nanoparticles of the samples have superparamagnetism when particle sizes are about 10 nm.
