Abstract

Abstract A modification of the Gordy and Drabkin method for the determination of oxygen saturation of blood has been presented. The equipment used is readily available, and the results are sufficiently accurate for clinical use. The method is particularly useful in analysing multiple samples of blood such as obtained by cardiac catheterization. Approximately 500 blood samples have been analysed by the described procedure during a 6-month period. Ten samples may easily be analysed during a 1-hour period using the described procedure.
