Abstract
In this paper, a new explicit 4-pint block over-relaxation scheme is presented for the numerical solution of the sparse linear systems derived from the discretization of self-adjoint elliptic partial differential equations. A comparison with the implicit line and 2-line block SOR schemes for the model problem shows the new technique to be competitive
