Abstract

Abstract Much evidence supports the view that granite boulders and the several minor features sculptured on them are essentially etch forms. Flared slopes, platforms, and notches, and several variants and combinations, are all initiated at the weathering front. They have been revealed by the stripping of the regolith, and their exposure has taken place not in a single event but in several phases. As has been suggested in respect of similar landform assemblages found on inselbergs, the morphology of the boulders reflects the geomorphological histories of the areas in which they occur.
