The Role of Scientific Consultant Librarians in Supporting Academic Research Case Study: Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta

Background of the Study: The development of the era of society 5.0 made the library participate in this development. The library is a combination of virtual and physical space to meet users' information needs as a society 5.0. Purpose: This study reviews the existence of libraries and librarians’ roles in the era of society 5.0, whether they are lost or survive in the new phase. Method: This study used an explorative mothod, it employs a number of scientific procedures, including data collection from libraries, reading and taking notes, and transforming the results into narrative writing.. Findings: Libraries and Librarians continue to thrive in the development of the society 5.0 era Libraries, and librarians increasingly have a role. Library developments that can be developed in this area include robotics in libraries, Self-Service Services, Digital Libraries, Information Consulting Services, and Digital Consulting Services. Conclusion: Libraries and Librarians are still needed and essential in the era of society 5.0 in library development. Librarians must work scientially and ensure professionalism while carrying out their duties and functions in library development to meet society's 5.0 users.

Libraries have an important role in supporting academic research. Librarians are not only tasked With managing information resources, but also play a role in assisting researshers in the process of searching for information, processing data, and publishing research result. The aim of this research is to identify the role of librarians in supporting academic research, both in terms of services, infrastructure and information literacy. The research result shows that the role of librarians is very important in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of academic research. Information literacy and the proper use of electronic resources are two areas in which librarians may make a difference. Since it stores, processes, and provides the information sources required throughout the research process of its academic community, the library plays a crucial role as a supporting element of universities in research operations. However, up until now, the university library has mostly served as a repository for research findings and has played little to no role in the actual research process. First, the library should revitalise its reference collection in order to better assist researchers. 2. Nigeria has envisioned that by the year 2020 the country will become one of the 20 top economies of the world. This goal was buttressed in a government policy termed vision 20-20-20 . These researchers examined the complimentary role libraries and librarians in Nigerian universities could play in the realization of that vision. They sampled the opinions of librarians in universities in Enugu State to synthesize their opinions concerning the roles they play in knowledge management. The researchers found that vision 20-20-20 can be realized through the collaborative roles of academia and manpower trainers for whom libraries and librarians are invaluable assets; therefore their roles cannot be over looked. The findings showed that the realization of vision 20-20-20 is knowledge driven, and librarians are active players in identifying maintaining and making available knowledge assets. Since only a reputable and reliable knowledge base can bring about efficient manpower production and capacity building for economic management and governance, librarians and knowledge workers roles are vital. They help to leverage knowledge assets through the provision of world class information, manpower training, and capacity building, all of which can impact on Nigeria’s vision 20-20-20. The paper calls for advocacy that would help put the role of librarians in perspective to the appropriate authority. This advocacy role will bring librarians into full focus and optimize the utilization of their skills and abilities. Library management information systems in universities are essential for managing e-libraries in universities. The world of education will face one of the challenges after 2030: the use of information technology or robotics in various sectors of human life, one of which is university libraries. This research was conducted using a literature approach by collecting data from various relevant theoretical sources about human resource management and higher education management information systems in the context of university library human resource planning strategies. This article delves into the practical application of library human resource planning strategies in universities. It discusses the formulation of university library human resource planning and the development of human resources in the era of Society 5.0. Furthermore, it explores the challenges and opportunities in implementing these strategies, such as change management, adaptive higher education management information system policies, and the development of librarians' professionalism in the era of society 5.0. This study uses a literature approach by collecting data from relevant theoretical sources about library human resource management and higher education management information systems in the educational context of university library human resource planning strategies. Data is analyzed through systematic literature synthesis to identify university library human resource planning strategies that can improve the quality of management e-library in the era of Society 5.0. In this era, adaptive and technology-oriented human resource management strategies are the key to improving the quality of university e-library management.

Benefits and barriers for researcher-practitioner collaboration on marine and coastal management issues

To deal with the “last kilometer” problem during the agricultural science and technology information service, the USB flash disk “Zixuntong”, which integrated five major consulting channels, i.e., telephone consultation, mutual video, message consultation, online customer service and QQ group was developed on the bases of capital experts and date resources. Since the products have the computer and telephone USB interface and are combined with localized information resources, users can obtain useful information on any terminal without the restriction of network. Meanwhile, the cartoon appearance make it friendly and attractive to people. The USB flash disk was used to provide agricultural expert consulting services and obtained a good preliminary application achievement. Finally, we concluded the creative application of USB flash disk in agricultural consulting services and prospected the future development direction of agricultural mobile consultation.

Background - Islamic boarding schools as one of the educational institutions based on Islamic values have a strategic role in the development of human resources in Indonesia. However, in the era of Society 5.0—which is characterized by the convergence of digital technology and human life—Islamic boarding schools face great challenges in adapting their learning systems and approaches. This condition requires adaptive and innovative human resource management (HR) in order to be able to respond to the demands of the times. Purpose - This research aims to analyze the role of human resource management in facing the dynamics and challenges of the world of education in the era of Society 5.0, with a case study on the Al-Furqan Islamic Boarding School Banjarmasin. Method/approach - This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Findings - The results of the study show that human resource management in this Islamic boarding school is carried out through a selective recruitment process, continuous training, teacher competency development, a structured performance evaluation system, and motivational awarding. Islamic boarding schools also integrate technology in learning and organize digital literacy training for educators in response to the challenges of the Society 5.0 era. Conclusions - The conclusion of this study states that responsive and strategic human resource management is the main key in maintaining the sustainability of the quality of education in Islamic boarding schools. Novelty/Originality/Value - The novelty of this study lies in the identification of the specific role of human resource management in the context of traditional educational institutions (Islamic boarding schools) that are undergoing digital transformation in the era of Society 5.0—a perspective that is still rarely explored in academic studies.

In the era of Society 5.0, Islamic education faces major challenges in adapting its curriculum to rapid technological developments. Changes in the need for skills and competencies require the Islamic education system to be more adaptive to digitalization without ignoring its fundamental values. However, the gap between the traditional curriculum and the demands of the digital era is still a significant obstacle to implementing innovative Islamic education. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the Islamic education curriculum in the era of Society 5.0, by highlighting the challenges and innovations that can be applied to improve learning effectiveness. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach, by collecting data from various relevant sources, such as previous research and academic studies. The analysis was carried out descriptively to describe the pattern of transformation, obstacles faced, and innovative strategies that can be applied in the development of Islamic education. The results of the study show that Islamic education needs to integrate technology into its learning system to improve the quality and relevance of the curriculum. Although there are obstacles in the application of technology, innovations such as the use of artificial intelligence, blended learning, and data-based analysis can be effective solutions. With the right strategy, Islamic education can not only adapt to the digital era but also maintain its role in building the character and morals of the Muslim generation.

The problem in this research is the book of state administration rarely used by the user of the number of visitors in one month on average 280 to 300 people, but only about 50 people who use them every month. This study aims to determine how the utilization of state administration book collection in the Library of the University of Muhammadiyah South Tapanuli. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method The study population was all the visitors who use the books in the Library of the State Administration of Muhammadiyah University of South Tapanuli during the month of May 2011 as many as 182 visitors and samples in the study amounted to 30 people. Data collection techniques in this study were (1) the collection of primary data is found directly on the object of research and by observation and interviews. (2) the collection of secondary data, research conducted through the review of written materials that consist of books / references, journals, scientific papers, legislation, and documents related to the research problems. Result analysis and discussion of the data and information obtained through research, it can be concluded that the South Tapanuli Muhammadiyah University Library has been carrying out the functions and duties both in services and in particular the provision of a collection of books Book collection of the State Administration. So perpustakaanUniversitas Muhammadiyah South Tapanuli, very beneficial to the entire academic community in order to support the learning process.

How can science best be harnessed to support political decision-making? How should scientific advice to policymakers be institutionalised in government to be more accountable to academic science and public concerns at the same time? Concerns about the quality of scientific expert advice to policymakers have been raised for years, particularly in the UK and on the European level. Public debates such as the BSE case, the controversy about genetically engineered food, the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) or the failure of experts and their risk models in the global financial crisis, have demonstrated that the legitimacy of experts and of the policymakers whom they advise essentially depends on the reliability and transparency of scientific advice. They have highlighted the absence of clear rules to follow as well as the lack of a legal framework and organisational structures for obtaining advice from academics. This lacuna has been further highlighted by the recent call for an institutional reform of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in reaction to allegations of shortcomings in its most recent assessment report. Thus, the issue of quality control and assurance in scientific expert advising is of vital importance for both decision-makers and the academic community.

Type of the article: Reflexive Preface The proliferation of unethical scientific consulting practices, particularly in post-Soviet contexts, poses significant threats to academic integrity by transforming legitimate knowledge transfer services into commercialized systems that fabricate academic outputs to meet formal performance metrics rather than supporting genuine research efforts. This study aims to analyze and classify different forms of scientific consulting based on their ethical alignment and function within academic systems, introducing the concept of “scientific consulting mills” as a comprehensive framework for understanding these distorted practices. The study employs qualitative content analysis of Ukrainian and international sources, bibliometric review, and a conceptual typology approach, including a Ukrainian academic landscape case study and a color-coded classification model categorizing service providers based on transparency, legality, and ethical compliance. The analysis reveals that growing demand for formal academic indicators fuels the rise of scientific consulting mills that exploit systemic weaknesses in academic evaluation systems. These mills commodify academic achievements and decouple performance metrics from genuine research contributions, offering services ranging from legitimate professional support to fraudulent activities. The paper includes a case study of the Ukrainian academic landscape, complemented by a classification model (“color-coded” types of scientific consulting) that categorizes service providers and practices based on transparency, legality, and ethical compliance. The proposed “scientific consulting mills” concept offers a broader categorization than existing frameworks, such as paper mills, encompassing diverse services that breach academic ethics while masquerading as legitimate consultancy. This concept provides critical insights for combating academic misconduct. Under broad environment of Web 2.0, digital reference service in university library gradually grows into a core business and takes booming internet as basic media of information, uses various instant messaging (IM) and its integration software, basically realizes full coverage of wireless network on campus through mobile terminals of high popularizing rate and achieves bidirectional interaction between readers in university and library. Under new situation, university library shall think about how to conform to development of the times and technology, provide real-time reference service for users in university whenever and wherever possible and let users simply and rapidly acquire information resources required in digital era. This study aims to determine the role of librarians in empowering Diponegoro University's digital library as a learning resource for online lectures. In this study the writer used case method with a descriptive approach. The informant selection technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection methods were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis method was done through data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this study show that the three main roles of the Diponegoro University's Library librarians during online lectures, namely as administrators and managers, information and reference providers and assistants and facilitators. They are responsible as administrators, information providers and student companions by ensuring the best service, providing references, assisting users in utilizing digital libraries. Thus, Diponegoro University's Library librarians have contributed to the success of online lectures and effective users of learning resources.

The focus on higher education has led to the emerging demands for new roles among librarians, including supporting research and publication productivity. One specific role that has emerged is that of a research librarian. This study employed a qualitative method of the phenomenology of perception. This study was conducted in four state university libraries and four private university libraries in Surabaya and Malang, East Java, Indonesia. This study revealed that librarians’ perceptions and interpretations of the role of a research librarian vary, depending on and influenced by the level of support they receive from their respective organizations. The research findings show that in private universities, the role of librarians is mostly centered on delivering services to students and lecturers. Meanwhile, state university libraries perceive research librarians as doing more than supporting research. They are also seen as researchers with responsibilities that include more research.

This research aims to understand the impact of the shift to digital technology on the work of university librarians, identify strategies to stay relevant in the digital age, and improve library services. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collects data through interviews with university librarians who experience changes due to digital technology, and analyzes related documents and literature to identify their patterns, challenges, and strategies in dealing with these changes. This research showed that the shift to digital technology has had a significant impact on the role of university librarians. Librarians must now manage electronic resources and develop new skills, such as information technology, metadata management, and digital preservation. They also need to be able to navigate the complex digital information landscape, promote electronic resources, and collaborate with users in the development of digital resources. In addition to technical ability, librarians must be creative and innovative, willing to experiment with new approaches and technologies, and look at problem-solving options. Innovation is key to staying relevant in the digital age. Previous studies have also highlighted the importance of collaboration with users and a focus on community needs as important elements in developing effective library services. This research reveals that the shift to digital technology has significantly changed the role of university librarians. They must develop in technology skills, collaborate with users, and be innovative in facing digital challenges. The ability to manage, promote electronic resources, and understand community needs is important in maintaining the relevance of librarians in the digital age.
