Abstract

Although the use of new technology in initial teacher education is widespread, its ro le is open to discussion and debate. Some key questions are: Should it be used mainly to introduce teachers to the technology they will meet in their future teaching? Should it play a part in the 'delivery' of teacher education? Can it be used to 'do teacher education differently' and even radically to re-structure teacher education programmes? The aim of this paper is to examine some of these questions in the light of the use of hypertext in one teacher education course and to consider the general issues which it illuminates.
