Abstract

Local repolarization processes were studied in initially single-domain iron-ion-containing LiNbO3 crystals exposed to focused laser radiation. The dependence of the formation of local domains and periodic domain structures on the temperature and the applied electric field strength was determined. It was shown that these effects are controlled by the total concentration of iron ions and the ratio of the Fe2+ and Fe3+ concentrations.
