Abstract

This paper is the review of the wave forces exerted on pipe-line at or near ocean bottom. The fluid forces of this problem depend on the characteristics of wave motion, the Keulegan-Carpenter number as the period parameter of fluid in back and forth motion, the Reynolds number from low to high value, the clearance between cylinder and bottom and the surface roughness of both cylinder and bottom. As the analytical solutions for this problem have been based on the potential theory because of the complexity of phenomena, there have been no complete solutions. Therefore almost solutions for practical purposes have been obtained from experimental results in laboratory basins.
