Abstract

AbstractAround midnight on 1/2 November 2023, Jersey (Channel Islands) was impacted by a supercell storm which produced both a tornado, rated T6/IF3, and very large hail. This article presents details of that remarkable hailstorm and places it into context by investigating severe hail events during the October–March cool season in the UK and Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man. The storm is compared to previous ‘dual‐hazard’ events during the cool season, where both a tornado and severe hail were produced.
