LncRNAs AK058003 and MVIH Overexpression in the Blood Samples of Iranian Breast Cancer Patients.

Background:LncRNAs are considered as novel biological regulators and potential cancer biomarkers. LncRNAs MVIH and AK058003 are associated with microvascular invasion in HCC. In BC, upregulated MVIH and AK058003 expression levels have been shown to promote cell proliferation, though LncRNA-AK058003 acts as a tumor suppressor in HCC. Methods:Blood samples were collected from 30 healthy women and 30 female BC patients. RNA was extracted from the blood of both groups, and cDNA was then synthesized. Real-time PCR was used to measure the expression level of LncRNA-AK058003 and MVIH. Results:The expression level of two LncRNAs in the blood samples of BC patients increased significantly compared with healthy individuals. The levels of AK058003 and MVIH were not associated with lymph node metastasis (p = 0.402 and p = 0.39), tumor size (p = 0.76 and p = 0.461), and TNM stage (p = 0.574 and p = 0.711), respectively. Conclusion: As per our findings, LncRNA-AK058003 could serve as a suitable indicator for low stage of BC. In addition, the increased level of LncRNA-MVIH could be considered as a biomarker for BC, which needs more evaluation in the future.

Biochemical Biomarkers-Independent Predictors of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Alice Jayapradha Cheekurthy

Biological markers or biomarkers are the indicators of a particular biological state before the appearance of manifestations in form of a disease.A variety of blood biomarkers represent pathology of diabetes.Analysis of blood is an important technique for determining physiological and pathological condition.People suffering from Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were part of the study. The people with bleeding disorders and those suffering from other diseases were not included in the study. There were more female (F) diabetic patients than male (M) patients. This case control observational study is an attempt to interpret data obtained from biochemical investigation of diagnostic biochemical parameters of complete blood count and lipid profile for their pathological implication and in prediction risk of Type 2 diabetes mellitus and related complications among the healthy subjects.Normality test was done to check for normal distribution of the data among females (1) and males (2) and the correlation test showed no significant relation of the of biochemical parameters with PBSS.

Background: Female breast cancer (BC) remains the most common cause of total cancer deaths around the world. Several studies have investigated BC biomarkers, but vital circulating biomarkers for early diagnosis of malignancy are still scarce. Thus, finding sensitive, selective and accurate biomarkers is required to get better BC outcome and to prolong patients’ survival. Therefore, this review investigated the feasibility of using circulating trace elements (TEs) as the new promising biological biomarkers for BC diagnosis and prevention. Methods: We systematically searched EMBASE, Medline, Google Scholar, PubMed, SciELO, Scopus databases or Web of Science for orginal studies presenting the significant changes in the concentrations of circulating TEs in terms of serum, plasma or blood from female breast cancer patients. Results: The search yielded 2697 articles, of which 39 were considered for this review. The study showed that four essential TEs (Se, Cu, Zn and Mn) significantly decreased when only one essential trace elemnt (Fe) increased consistently, while five toxics circulating TEs (Cd, Cr, Pb, Co, Mo) increased significantly with a significant difference compared to healthy groups. The essential TEs, Se and Cu were reported to decrease the most in fifteen and twenty-one studies, respectively. However, regarding the toxic circulating TEs, Cd and Pb were found to increase most significantly in seven studies. Among the essential TEs, Se and Zn were reported to have the most potential, with Cd and Pb having the most potential for use as new promising biomarkers to diagnose or prevent BC. Conclusion: The findings provide an insight into the TEs circulating biomarkers for early BC diagnosis and prevention. Due to its high heterogeneity, meta-analysis was not assessed; hence, futher investigation may be required on their clinical outcomes in BC with high sensitivity and specificity for accurate therapeutic response.
