Abstract

This study aims to empirically investigate the complex relationship between inflation, human development index and carbon emissions across different country cohorts. For this purpose, the relationship between the variables in the model was examined using the panel data analysis method based on selected groups of countries for the years 1994-2021. Country cohorts were categorized as OECD, G20 and EU members, as well as advanced, high-income and low-income countries and the empirical analysis was performed on respective breakdowns. As a result of the study, it was revealed that there is a linear relationship between the human development index and carbon emissions, and a reverse relationship between inflation and carbon emissions.
