Abstract

One evening as we both watched the sun spill from a darkening sky, one of my adolescent patients remarked, “What’s the point?”I turned to her. “Of what?” I asked.“Of all this,” she waved around the intensive care unit room, the cords attached to her body clattering against the bedrail.“All this is a way to get you back out there,” I said, “back to your life.”
