In other words, there are many pathologic conditions that simulate asthma and may be regarded clinically as such. It is only by a careful study that the correct diagnosis is made. The rôle of bronchoscopy in bronchial asthma therefore includes the investigation of the tracheobronchial tree to rule out certain conditions that might simulate asthma.
