Abstract

Purpose: Since May, 2009, we have managed the data of the patients with pacemaker using commercial database software “Pace View” which was developed with “Microsoft ACCESS”. We report the application of the database and a workload of the data input. Methods and Results: We enrolled 246 patients in this database during March, 2011 from May, 2009. About 12 patients have a checkup at the pacemaker clinic every week. It takes about 2 minutes for input of each patient’s data. Some devices have special functions and the technical terms are different by a manufacture. That can affect the input contents and it is necessary to be careful. Because it doesn’t take much time, we don’t consider it a burden, but it may be a problem that there are few staff who can operate it. When a patient with pacemaker comes in emergency room, it is useful and helpful that we can search the patient’s data quickly. Conclusion: We think “Pace View” is useful for the data management of patients with pacemaker. In future, we would like to link it to electronic medical chart system and improve it as everyone use it easily.
