Abstract

A series of novel self-activated Sr2AMg2-xZnx(VO4)3 (A = Li, Na, K) phosphors were synthesized by high temperature solid-phase method under normal ambient air and their luminescent properties were investigated. To determine the suitable parameters, surface morphology, fluorescence properties and crystal structure of the phosphors were explored by changing the calcination time, calcination temperature, molar ratio of Mg2+ ions to Zn2+ ions and kinds of alkali metals. The experimental results indicated that this phosphor could produce strong green light under the excitation of near ultraviolet light when the calcination temperature was 600 °C, the holding time was 5 h, the mole ratio of Mg2+ ions to Zn2+ ions was 2:0 and the alkali metal ions were Li+ ions. It can be used in white light LED but not belong to a single matrix phosphor.
