Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical application of frameless stereotactic system in the treatment of brain abscess.Methods A total of 11 patients with brain abscess were surgically treated from March 2011 to November 2012.The clinical data were reviewed,including operative duration,surgical outcomes and postoperative complications.Results All the punctures and drainages were successfully carried out without extra passes under frameless stereotactic system.The operative duration was (56 ± 12)minutes.No related adverse events occurred.All the patients were cured without reoccurrence.No postoperative complications occurred.Conclusion As a safe,accurate and efficient technique,frameless stereotactic system should be the most appropriate choice for the puncture and aspiration of brain abscess.
