Abstract

NASA's Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer Global Area Coverage (GAC) Pathfinder data are compared with the European Commission's GAC data set, as a step towards validation of this new NASA product. Results show that the NASA data have considerable potential for describing global land surface processes, such as biomass burning patterns.
