Abstract

Purpose. The aim of the article is to assess the usefulness of the Sectoral Qualifications Framework for the Tourism Sector to prepare a description of qualifications in the area of pilotage and tour guiding. Method. The basic method of research was analysing the legislation and source materials relating to the Integrated System of Qualifications (IQS) and Sectoral Qualifications Framework for Tourism Sector (SQFT), which is part of IQS. Findings. The analysis made it possible to prove the usefulness of the SQFT to prepare a description of qualifications, from the area of pilotage and tour guiding, resulting from its following features: SQFT designates the areas of competence for individual qualification levels; uses of the industry language - including description of the validation of learning outcomes; it makes it easier to determine the level of the Polish and European Qualifications Framework of the described qualifications; it facilitates the identification of the competency profile for individual task groups; it enables greater differentiation of qualifications in the area of pilotage and tour guiding. Research and conclusions limitations. The analysis covered SQFT for the industry of tour guides and tour leaders as well as leisure time animators. Practical implications.
