Abstract

Objective: Platelet-activating factor (PAF) plays a significant role in reproduction. Preimplantation stage embryos produce PAF (ePAF) and this ePAF is required for development. PAF’s mechanism of action is a receptor-mediated event and its presence has been reported in the developing mouse embryo. However, the presence of the PAF-receptor in the human embryo has yet to be confirmed, previous reports failed to detect it’s transcript. Therefore, the study objective was to determine the presence of the PAF-receptor in the human preimplantation embryo.
