Abstract

The study of Chinese Red Cross diplomacy is basically a virgin land to be reclaimed. The Chinese Red Cross Diplomacy, 1949–2009, is the first monograph on this topic. The author Wu Pei-hua reviewed and summarized the past 60 years of the Chinese Red Cross’ diplomacy after the new China founding. It enriches, enlarges and perfects the study of the Red Cross, filling in the blanks of the research margin at home and abroad. As one of the world’s three major international organizations, the Red Cross enjoys equal popularity with the United Nations and the IOC (International Olympic Committee). In fact, research on the evolution of the Chinese Red Cross’ diplomacy is the study of the history of modern China integrating into the international community. This book is divided into seven sections: preface, five chapters and the epilogue. In the first chapter, the author reviews the Chinese Red Cross’ establishment and development process.
