Abstract

Abstract The context and texts of a number of songs which are publicly performed in corroboree are considered in this paper. They are analysed to identify the themes and content. Suggestions are then made as to the possible functions which the singing of these songs fulfills in Nunggubuya society. Similar work has been done by Moyle (1967) and Waterman (1955) in the eastern Arnhem Land region.
