Abstract

Eduardo Banados at the Observatories of the Carnegie Institution for Science in Pasadena, California, and his colleagues have confirmed possible instances of distant quasars, which is one of the most distant objects ever seen. It means it is also one of the brightest objects ever spotted, it is more than 800 million times the mass of the sun, which presents a problem. Banados and his colleagues also spotted something strange about the quasars light: on its way to them, some of it was absorbed by non-ionised hydrogen.
