Abstract

The Kushan Basin, With an area of (136.37) square Kilometers, is located in the far north of Zaxo district, Which is one of the districts of Duhok governorate, is determined geographically by international borders of Iraq and Turkey, the basin of Estiplan from the east, and the basin of Khabur form the west. The Kushan valley basin is one of the valleys with permanent water flow because of its location in a complex mountainous area. Its streams flow from Sarki Hassan Agaheights and Kurimountain to the south and ending in Khabour River with a length of (34.64)km.                  The study aims to identify the natural environmental characteristics of the area, and it shows a quantitative analysis of the characteristics of the drainage network of the basin of Kishan valley and its geophysical and  hydrological importance and the extent to which it can be benefitted by.                  The study showed that there is a difference in the geological and heterological factors between the parts of the basin(despite ist small size) as well as variations in the morphometric properties. In addition, the region has good hydrological potentials due to its topographical nature and geographical.
