Abstract
Both sexes of Idiostolus insularis Berg were dissected. Some details of genitalic morphology are advanced, other details of the morphology of the female genitalia, wings, and pregenital abdomen are primitive in the Pentatomomorpha. The adult arrangement of trichobothria is very primitive. These primitive morphological features probably resemble those found in the pentatomomorphan group ancestral to the Trichophora. Idiostolus and the genus Trisecus Bergroth are best regarded as comprising a separate family Idiostolidae, in the Lygaeoidea.
