Abstract
In the late seventies, the present writer proposed a new method of linguistic and ethnogenetic research, namely the method of comparing the vocabulary in parallel texts. This method throws a new light on different problems, such as Bartoli’s second ”norm”, the nature of linguistic relatedness, the original homeland of the Goths, the classification of Germanic languages, Verner’s rule, words of non-Indo-European origin in Germanic, the original homeland of the Slavs, the pseudo-archaic character of Sardinian, the classification of Romance languages, prehistorical migrations of the Slavs, the “miracle de la Roumanie”, the original homeland of the Indo-Europeans, and so on.
