Abstract

The Lamp Above My Door David S. Higdon (bio) is where I watch buckmoths and mayflies clingthe gentle strobing, wingsdrumming against the fragrantoilskin of night sky—drawnlike sentinels to the mine, flutters and twitches and dropsin their cages. The lamp above my dooris my heart's conflicted beacon, wayward sibling of the Furies, born of seafoam, ternsbolt from foghorns steeringtoward a rock-jagged shore.I am wrapped in ruin, retracepathways to thorn-filled nestsfull of birdsong.
