Abstract
Longitudinally running fibers were transected in the posterior part of the temporal lobe in three monkeys; in three others, the white matter connecting the temporal lobe medially was cut. These animals and three controls were examined for many of the symptoms associated with complete bilateral temporal lobe removal. The experimental animals in both groups displayed severe and lasting visual discrimination deficits. Orality, hypoemotionality, and perseverative behavior were also observed.
