Abstract

This session provided new results from the Voyager investigations of Jupiter and lo as well as several further, more mature studies of the Pioneer 11 magnetic field models. J. K. Alexander reported studies of the Jovian decameter wavelength radio emission from Voyager. The decameter sources at Jupiter seem to be distinct and multiple—both lo‐related and non‐lo‐related. The lo‐related source seems to be active regularly whenever lo passes over a specific Jovian longitude. A diurnal effect was noted for the more sporadic non‐lo‐related emission, which suggested some control of this by the ionosphere.
