Abstract

AbstractThe 3000 Å emission of KCl:Tl+ which contains a fast and a slow decay process was investigated by time‐resolved emission spectroscopy. This technique permits sampling of photons which are emitted at a chosen delay time after excitation. Emission and excitation spectra and the polarization of emission were measured separately for both components with and without applied stress. The results give information about the Jahn‐Teller effect of the 3T1u, and 3A1u excited states. It is concluded that the 3A1u‐APES follows the 3A1u‐APES near the potential minima.
