Abstract

Measurements of the low-temperature stress-induced dichroism in the GR1 luminescence band identify a phonon of approximately 40 meV with an E irreducible representation in the Td point group of the vacancy, and a T1 or T2 mode of approximately 93 meV. With these modes the GR1 luminescence bandshape and its response to uniaxial stresses may be plausibly simulated.
