Abstract
In a sample of 441 female respondents aged between 11 to 14 years of age, research was conducted the aim of which was to determine how certain psycho-social factors influence the physical activities among girls of middle school age. In order to reach the objectives of this research, 10 variables for estimating psycho-social factors were applied. Physical activity is assessed by the use of the Physical Activity Questionnaire (Elementary School). Data obtained through the questionnaire was processed with the analysis of variance (ANOVA). Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that educational programs and strategies should be aimed at increasing self-efficiency (confidence in a person’s abilities to perform specific activities in certain situations), confidence in one’s physical abilities, increase the level of perceived benefits to physical activity, increasing social support from one’s parents and peers and to offer the young (schoolgirls) activities which they alone can choose and enjoy the same.
