Abstract
The effect of a neostigmine-mediated increase in acetylcholine and its influence on metoclopramide's effect on gastric emptying was studied in six healthy volunteers by using the Wagner-Nelson method of calculating the fraction of paracetamol absorbed. Gastric emptying was not significantly influenced by metoclopramide, but the combination of metoclopramide and neostigmine had an effect similar to that of neostigmine alone. Metoclopramide did not significantly slow the “hurrying” effect of neostigmine.
