Abstract
The influence of certain factors (molecular mass, acetate group content, method of synthesis) on the structuring in aqueous PVA solutions was established using a birefringence method. It was shown that structuring in the PVA-water system weakens with increasing molecular mass of the polymer and as the acetate group content grows. The structuring is much weaker in aqueous PVA solutions obtained from polyvinyl acetate with incomplete polymerization conversion than in similar solutions obtained by complete conversion. The number of particles involved and their size and shape was determined.
