Abstract

A coincidence technique is used to study the influence of the internal energy of the reactant ion on the relative cross section of the reaction C 3H + 4 + C 3H 4 → C 6H + 7 + H. The reaction is studied at thermal collision energies, and for two isomeric collision systems. From an analysis of the results in terms of a statistical model for the reaction, it is concluded that the reactant isomeric structure is maintained in an intermediate collision complex as well as at a rate determining reaction barrier.
