Abstract
It was determined that at 18.84wt.% Fe 2O 3 reached a maximum solid solution in 3CaO · 3A1 2O 3 · SrSO 4 by replacing A1 2O 3. The physical properties of the compound with and without Fe 2O 3 were measured and these are combined with the analysis of the hydration process and products by using XRD, DTA and calorimetric equipment to determine the heat of hydration, etc. The results show that there was no tricalcium aluminate hexahydrate (3CaO · Al 2O 3 · 6H 2O) formed in any of the samples. The addition of Fe 2O 3 to 3CaO · 3Al 2O 3 · SrSO 4 caused a decrease in the compressive strength. Among the hydration products, two hydrates in the form of 3CaO · Al 2O 3 · 3SrSO 4 · nH 2O and 3CaO · Al 2O 3 · SrSO 4 · nH 2O were found.
